Materials Testing

The Chemistry Lab provides independent, full service analysis with a priority on customer service. We provide material identification and verification with high accuracy and maximum reliability. Chemical composition is determined both quantitatively and semi-quantitatively. In addition, we have the capability to handle any size of incoming material.

  • X-Ray Fluorescence
  • Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy
  • X-Ray Diffraction
  • Spark Emission Spectroscopy
  • Atomic Absorption
  • Wet Chemistry
  • Corrosion Studies

Our mechanical testing laboratory determines the properties of a variety of materials. The scope of work ranges from routine Accreditation to extensive analytical examinations. The laboratory is capable of handling very large samples and provides a clean, well-organized environment for all your testing needs. The complete workshop can machine your samples and prepare the necessary specimens for evaluation.

  • Tensile, Yield, and Shear Strength
  • Hardness (Rockwell, Brinell, Superficial)
  • Microhardness Survey (Vickers and Knoop)
  • Impact Strength
  • Fatigue
  • Chemical Analysis
  • Reverse Engineering

We solve premature product and equipment failures resulting from corrosion, improper fabrication, inadequate design, mishandling, or inappropriate materials selection.

We have a wide array of specialized equipment that enables a highly skilled staff to provide a comprehensive characterization of the failed components and to pinpoint the origin and cause of failure.

Combined with years of research and industrial experience, we have the capability to determine the cause of the component failure and to recommend a solution to your problem.

  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Failure Mode Determinations
  • Product Liability Investigations
  • Reverse Engineering
  • Microstructural Analysis
  • Non-Destructive Testing
  • Patent Infringement
  • Fractographic Studies

Examination of a material's microstructure provides important clues to its composition, inclusion level, and phase distribution to characterize the material. We use state of the art optical and electron microscopes to reveal the detail of the microstructure. In addition, we utilize television monitoring of the magnified sample and photographic documentation of the material for presentation as evidence.

  • Microstructural Analysis
  • Scanning Electron Microscopy
  • Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy
  • Metallography
  • Light Optical Microscopy
  • Stereo Microscopy
  • Photographic Documentation
  • Alloy Development
